Light Guides

Commonly used for inspection purposes, light guides can be fed into inaccessible places to deliver light where it would not otherwise be possible to illuminate.

They can also be used on inspection benches or on machines to deliver a controlled directional light to a specific area. One cable per guide is normal but we can also make bifurcated light guides with two cables from one source to split the light in two for delivery from two points.

Universal Fiber Optics can manufacture custom non-coherent fiber light guides for industrial and scientific users. We supply light guides to OEMs, government and NGOs. Applications can be as diverse as defence electronics and the inspection of radioactive and hazardous areas.

Our light guides can be used for illumination for machine vision and inspection purposes, and we can supply these with standard low smoke halogen free plastic coating or armored plastic or metal sheathings. Custom connectors can be made to your specification in materials such as brass, aluminum or stainless steel. The fiber used can be PMMA or glass depending on the application.

How to specify

All light guide pricing is dependent on the light guide design and batch quantities.

Drawings of light guide assemblies with production quantities required will allow us to make an accurate costing for your product or we can advise about considerations for manufacture at the design stage.
